- What is Business Email Compromise?
- Historically, threat actors would have been happy enough stealing credit card information, however this has become much harder to monetise and so they are now going after the individuals that hold access to a businesses bank accounts. As a result of this there has been a sharp increase in this type of compromise. Business Email Compromise is the process of cleverly socially engineering an email to trick the recipient in to transferring funds to accounts that they shouldn't.
- How does Trend Micro prevent Business Email Compromise?
- Trend Micro deploys two significant capabilities to deal with the complexities of preventing Business Email Compromise. One being to look for elements within the email that indicate it being BEC - this is achieved by leveraging a blended mix of expert rules combined with a state of the art machine learning engine. The second and very unique capability is authorship analysis using the integrated writing style DNA machine learning analysis feature. This feature uses 7000 measures of an individual email users writing style to learn their unique way of composing an email. The writing style engine will then highlight any messages that deviate significantly enough form the established norm to protect the recipient.
Advanced Anti-Phishing
Trend Micro Cloud App Security has a patented technology called "Computer Vision" which dynamically analyses the content behind a URL that passes through your cloud service. Computer vision will look at many aspects of the page/login screen behind the URL to ascertain whether it is legitimate or fake/malicious. This significantly reduces the change of phishing attacks especially those associated with credential theft.

- How does Cloud App Security detect new or unknown malware?
- Cloud App Security includes Trend Micro's award winning Cloud Sandboxing technology. The cloud sandbox can dynamically analyse both URLs and files found in cloud services by interacting with the object to execute the file payload or click the URL in a safe environment and record what would have happened. On the basis of this new found intelligence a decision can then be made as to the safety of the object and an appropriate action is then applied to the original object. Actions could include: quarantine, allow, delete, notify, tag. Ultimately it is there to give an additional layer of protection to identify and block unknown threats before a user can inadvertently click on them and potentially cause a cyber breach.
